Shore Cottages, Berriedale

Nestled within the cove on the shore of Berriedale sat 4 derelict single storey, terraced fisherman’s cottages. The cottages are category C listed buildings, and have particular historic and architectural importance, having the unique advantage that all the original buildings were still standing. All works were carried out sensitively within the remit of traditional historical works.

• Installation of the waste treatment tank, soil waste and drainage systems, Air Source heat pump,
• Insulated reinforced concrete floor, including radon barrier.
• Replacement of failed stone lintols, internal stone walls, rear retaining wall, harl repairs, lime pointing, and sea defence wall.
• Repairs to the Fireplaces which included the supply and fitting of Caithness Stone Hearths along with Caithness Flagstone Floors.
• Paths were also replaced, laying Cobble Setts in the traditional method.
