The contract in association with H.R.I. Architects commenced in April 2007 and was completed in December 2008 at a cost of just over £615,000.00 pounds. The completed project provided a multipurpose main hall, meeting room, office, kitchen/servery, male, female and disabled toilets plus provision of ‘Home & Away’ changing rooms complete with showers for the resident local football teams.
The existing prefabricated hall with flat roof was demolished and the site was ‘up-filled’ with compacted recycled hardcore. Reinforced concrete pads were put in place to receive a new steel framed building; lightning protection was also installed as part of the consultant’s specification. G.M.R. Henderson then completed the ‘first fix’ installation with a composite panel roof and insulated block-work walls. Under floor heating was then installed on a mixture of poured concrete floors and in the hall area, a floating floor consisting of floor joists mounted on dwarf walls and finished with hardwood flooring. The DDA compliant building had many sub-contractors ranging from steelwork, electrical, heating, plumbing, painting and flooring trades, all overseen by the expertise of G.M.R. Henderson’s staff.
Another successful project completed by G.M.R. Henderson giving the residents of Keiss a true focal point of congregation to the village.
